Because the bike relies on a precise voltage input to calculate your Output (Watts) and sync your metrics via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, a stable electrical current is essential. This is not a generic laptop charger. The Original Peloton Bike requires a highly specific electrical profile to protect its internal logic boards.

Precision Voltage Output: Calibrated to output the exact voltage and amperage required by the PL-01 console, preventing the "under-voltage" loops that cause the screen to get stuck on the Peloton logo screen.

The most common reason these power cords fail is due to improper routing on the bike frame:
The Frame Hook: Always route the thin DC cable through the plastic hook located at the bottom rear stabilizer of the bike frame. This acts as a strain relief.
Avoid the Cleat Strike: Never let the power cord drape forward under the pedals. If a cycling shoe cleat strikes the thin wire while you are unclipping, it can instantly slice through the internal copper core.
Unplug Before Moving: If you are moving your Peloton to a different room, always disconnect the cord from the back of the bike first. Tipping the bike forward onto its transport wheels with the cord plugged in is the #1 cause of bent or broken barrel tips.
